Passage 1 contains a fact most candidates get wrong on first reading: the world's crop diversity was already stored before the Svalbard vault existed, in seventeen hundred gene banks. The vault is a backup of a backup. Two of the True/False/Not Given items turn on whether you noticed that.

Passage 2 is about deadlines, and it will describe your own behaviour back to you. It argues that leaving work late is not a failure of discipline but an accurate response to how the brain values distant events — and that under some conditions it produces better work. Read it after you finish the test.

About this test

Three passages, 40 questions. The Svalbard seed vault and the one time it was used; what the research on deadlines actually shows; and three specialists disagreeing about closing city centres to cars.
